Taste Bud Tuesday - Captain's Grille

Okay. So I haven't been focusing too much on Disney and that is completely unacceptable. I apologize to you all.

Here is my way of making it up to you. Tuesdays are now dedicated to a review of a restaurant on Disney property. This will be easy for me to keep up with my love of taking photos of food.

This week's highlight is...... THE CAPTAIN'S GRILLE

The Captain's Grille is in The Yacht Club in the EPCOT Resort Area. It is tucked away to the left once you walk in to their main lobby. (Next to it is an adorable bar to grab a drink before you're seated.)

After years of getting the Chef's Pasta Creation which was an amazing gnocchi dish the menu changed and I opted to try something new. Because I was using the Disney Dining Plan I had the option of getting an appetizer, entree and dessert. You better believe I took advantage of that.

Here is what the meal looked like.

The perfect way to start any meal. Sunrise Sangria, bread and butter...(yes with sea salt on it, the BEST.)

The appetizer I chose was the Green Goddess Salad.  It was romaine lettuce with house-made Green Goddess dressing and croutons. (Explanation from AllEars.net)

Review: DELICIOUS! The flavor wasn't overpowering and the lettuce was crispy. Not just a typical everyday salad.

For the Entree I was craving chicken. I saw Pan-seared Chicken on the menu. It was served with sweet potatoes, walnut butter spread, dried cherries, haricot vert, and truffle brown butter vinaigrette. (Explanation from AllEars.net)

Review:  One of the juiciest cuts of chicken I have ever had. The walnut butter on the plate was also delicious. It had flavor but wasn't overpowering. The sweet potatoes had a slightly crispy outside that was a nice contrast and was beyond delicious.  I truthfully did not try the truffle brown butter vinaigrette.

And the dessert....drum roll please......
House Made Gelato in either chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ...Well you KNOW I had to get strawberry. <3

Review: Out of this world. The gelato was smooth and the whipped cream (I think it was) was a nice texture too and hey who doesn't love a little piece of chocolate with the Yacht and Beach Club on it.

All in all, this is one of my favorite stops to make on WDW property. My meal (minus the sangria) was a little over $30 if you aren't on the DDP.

Have you eaten here before? Would you?

  2. That looks delicious! I do not spend enough time researching food at Disney for our trips there. I always spend a lot of time on the rollercoasters lol! Since we'll be there for a few days of the Food & Wine festival this year, I'm hoping to spend more time at EPCOT tasting lots of yummy new foods!
