Bonjour, Hola, Bonjour

11.07.13

After another late night I definitely took my time waking up, but how can you want to go back to the room with Cinderella's Castle a glow!?!
I thought about what I had planned for Thursday when deciding where to spend my morning....hmmm a tequila lunch at La Hacienda de San Angel and THE runDisney MEET UP! I figured that because I'd be spending a great deal of time in EPCOT that I would head back to the Magic Kingdom in the AM.

After I walked through the castle I notice hte line for Fairytale Hall was surprisingly short. I figured sicne Sammy and I had seen Cinderella and Aurora the night before I should visit Rapunzel and Snow White. I had such a blast with these ladies.

On my way to grab a snack I noticed more work being done on the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train! I can't wait till this ride opens!

When I first entered the Magic Kingdom and traveled down Main Street U.S.A. the line for the new Main Street Bakery/Starbucks was too long. I changed my initial plans and went to Gaston's Tavern to score my MK favorite, Le Fou's Brew an a tasty hummus and pretzel cup. It was perfect. And watching all the families walk by was a great people watching opportunity.

I heard about the Tangled Bathrooms but hadn't seen them in person until now!

On my way out of the park I got to watch the parade go by!

Once on the monorail I began to get a little nervous for the Tequila Lunch.

Although both my brother and father have eaten at La Hacienda de San Angel I have never stepped inside. It was gorgeous; I was in complete awe. The Cast Members checking you in gave assigned seating which worked out perfectly. Actually more perfect than I had anticipated.

This was the Horchata or "welcome" margarita. It was very tasty, made with cream, liqueur, rum, tequila and sprinkled with cinnamon. I think ;)

The coffee beans, cinnamon sticks and lemon rind's were used to bring out the scents in each of the tequila samples.

I loved the set up.

Water, liquid tire tread and a tequila liqueur.

 Vodka.....ugh.
(Intended to "cleanse your palate")

The Menu.

The motto's of the day: "Keep Calm and Love a Pit bull" and "Bottom's Up"

The three tequlia's Blanco, Reposado and Anejo.

 Blanco
My verdict: Very 'harsh' but almost normal for the type of tequila I have taken straight shots of. Definitely cleared your sinus' and left your mouth a little numb.

 Reposado
My verdict: Still a little bit of a lingering burn with this one but much better than the blanco. Interesting taste. Smelled amazing.

 Anejo
My verdict: Smooooooooth baby smooth. It was so tasty and didn't burn. Wish I had more than I was given.

Humbert from Tequila, Mexico taught me that there are 3 places to smell tequila in a glass. The bottom, the middle and the top. Each area of the glass brought out different notes and gave you a different feeling. I was so impressed and blown away by how much I learned from him. Plus he may or may not be really attractive....

Appetizer Break Down: I WOULD EAT THIS EVERY SINGLE DAY. Yes. I did say that! The jalapeno with the octopus and the carrots...mmmm mmmm mmmm. I am so proud of myself for trying this. And no the octopus was NOT fried. It was what I might consider 'au naturale'. It was spicy, so those who can't handle a little heat might not enjoy this dish. It was very fresh tasting and was incredibly delicious.

This is how you test to see if the tequila you are drinking is of good quality. Swirl it in the glass. If it coats the glass, then forms tear drops as it slowly moves back towards the bottom of the glass...thumbs up!

I was surprised how much octopus I really did eat. Mmm mmm good!

Cilantro cream soup with serrano peppers and toasted pine nuts.

Soup Break Down: It was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I hope they sell this at La Hacienda, because I will most definitely be back. It was thick and creamy and the pine nuts were a great added mini crunch. The pepper was a little hot I think. We had already had a some tequila by this point hahaha.

Mexican Surf and Turf. Filet Mignon and Shrimp.

 Filet Mignon with potato

Entree Break Down: I don't think you can EVER go wrong with filet mignon. It was buttery smooth and sweet; easy to cut and easy to chew. The potato cubes were a nice addition but the meat itself would have been just fine.

Shrimp with guajillo peppers.

Entree Break Down: I'm truthfully not a huge fan of shrimp that isn't in a martini glass, nice and ice cold with a helping of spicy cocktail sauce. This was pretty good for my shrimp experience though, the peppers on the bottom helped me enjoy it more.

 Purred Mamey Fruit.

Dessert Break Down: Not my favorite I must admit. I could have completely done without it. You think when you get it, it's chocolate and will be smooth and well, chocolaty....nope. It's not. Its definitely an acquired taste and I prefer to not acquire it.

Overall: I ended up sitting with a woman and her husband and father who I ended up figuring out we were following each other on Twitter, isn't it a small world! She is awesome and I had a blast with them. Again another first, sitting with people I 'didn't know' for a meal. I loved this experience and I will be back next year for sure.

I made my way back to the room and luckily Sammy got out at 4.30 this evening instead of 5.30pm. We made reservations for dinner at Les Chefs de France per my suggestion on the macaroni and cheese.

We chose to do the Prix Fixe menu which gave you an appetizer, entree and dessert. Although I knew I'd be running later in the evening I can't pass up a meal at Les Chefs de France haha

The salad was slightly disappointing without any real flavor. I mean dressing wise. But It was probably smart of me to have something as organic as possible.

Macaroni and cheese. My only gripe with this is the amount of pepper they use, otherwise I could bathe in this entree... literally.

Ahhhhh what better way to end your time in France? Chocolate Mousse!

Next..... runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Meet up! Stay tuned!
